A Slice of Flow

A Slice of Flow

I’m often inspired by moments when we interact with nature, like the way leaves sway in the breeze or shadows shift along a hiking trail. When we recall these experiences, what stays in our memory is often a small detail—a slice of that fleeting moment, like a looped GIF playing in our minds.

In this project, I want to recreate that feeling through light, designing an object that captures a slice of a natural phenomenon. Something you can keep in your home, something quiet and simple, that through subtle interaction, can gently trigger a memory of the natural world and remind you of your own presence within it.

The idea that being isn’t just about objects, but about how we experience our presence in the world through subtle, often unspoken moments.

I want to find something that can illustrate a slice of nature

That is always there but ever-changing

It carries its own internal rhythm of change—quiet, subtle, yet beautiful

Even without intentional interaction

Even just by noticing its movement, you feel something stir in return. It leaves a mark on you, a soft echo.
That’s what I want this object to become — an anchor point that invites you to feel, in that brief exchange, how a fleeting human emotion can resonate with the timeless rhythm of the natural world.
